Race Rules

Henceforth, the following rules shall apply:

 

House Rules, Rule — if the ping pong ball hits the ceiling, it’s in play!

Classes

  • Stock — exterior modifications only; absolutely no modifications to power train
  • Modified — anything goes, with exceptions:
  • Machines must be sandbelt driven
  • All modifications must be carried “on-board”

Courses

  • All races will be run on a 12″ (approximately) wide track
  • Stock — course shall be fifty (50) feet in length
  • Modified — course shall be seventy-five (75) feet in length
  • All racing lanes shall be twelve (12) inches in width

Race Start

  • Eliminations — the Rules Committee shall define the number and structure of the races at the beginning of the event according to the number of competitors in each category (see attached for modified single elimination and double elimination protocols, one of which will be selected based on number of entries and timing)
  • Running starts — referred to the Research Department for further study
  1. No new entries are allowed after first round of races (by category) are complete
  2. Two (2) false starts and “You’re out!”
  3. No more than five (5) minutes are allowed between races for repairs, modifications, or any other changes–penalty is forfeiture of race
  4. Disputed races may be re-run at the discretion of the Rules Committee
  5. Awards shall be determined by the Rules Committee
  6. All decisions of the Rules Committee are Final!
